There is no direct flight from the UK. Most journeys connect through Nairobi, Addis Ababa or Johannesburg, and take roughly 13 to 20 hours in total. The airport is about 25 km from the city centre, and a transfer takes around 30 to 40 minutes. We check connection times and baggage allowances on both flights before we quote.
May to October is the dry season and the best time for wildlife viewing, with cooler temperatures from June to August. The rains run from November to April.
Visit Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, the craft markets, and Lake Malawi, which is around two hours' drive from the capital. Safari lodges at Liwonde and Majete are reached by road or short charter flights.
